A new concept hotel with an authentic design and overnight stay is going to open in Uzbekistan’s airport
Capsule hotels, which are becoming popular lately, have originally been invented in Japan back in 1979. Since then, the concept has further spread to various other territories, including Belgium, China, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Poland, and Canada.
Japan, which is known for its futuristic innovations, offers this kind of accommodation to its visitors, as well as citizens. Capsule hotels, also known as pod hotels in the West, could be a lifesaver for affordable overnight stays with a limited budget. The concept of the hotel is usually small bed-sized rooms known as capsules. Capsule hotels provide cheap, basic overnight accommodation for guests who do not require it or who cannot afford larger, more expensive rooms offered by more conventional hotels.
Today, Uzbekistan also decided to adapt the concept at Tashkent International Airport, creating more comfort for affordable overnight accommodation. However, the concept of the basic accommodation units at Tashkent International Airport will not be just capsules, but small cozy cabins with a complete single bed and a minimal set of accessories, such as a lamp, a clothes hanger, a shelf for hand luggage, a table.
The cabins provide passengers with a basic overnight stay in it for several hours during the transfer, without having to leave the airport and the transit zone of Tashkent International Airport. The hotel will have a 24-hrs reception available, each room will have an individual boarding invitation system to provide extra convenience for the transit passengers and guests.
The hotel provides accommodation for 27 capsules on two floors. A reception desk, bathrooms and a shower room are available on the ground floor. The hotel will be designed in an oriental style, matching the newly opened Art Bazaar shopping pavilion. Bobur Ismailov, a famous artist in Uzbekistan, was involved in the work of the project.
According to the artists, the capsule hotel in Uzbekistan’s airport is designed in a completely different style compared to the hotels in many airports around the world of a similar concept. Oriental authenticity and luxury of the East, European minimalism and compactness are smartly combined in the design of the project. Since not all the transit passengers have an opportunity to stay in Uzbekistan and visit the historical and tourist sites of the country, visit the ancient cities of Uzbekistan and get in touch with Uzbek culture, the capsule hotels are a great chance to do so. The way the project is designed enables the transit passengers crossing the country to feel and observe the atmosphere and spirit of the ancient cities of Uzbekistan, without physically being able to visit them.
